Hurrah for you, Tibia! I'm glad to see you looking around the site and understanding how to post. That's exactly how you'll be doing it in class....soon! ;D

Hello- I just received my text and realized I bought the 5th edition. Is it very different from the 4th?
I am looking forward to beginning my study. Can’t wait to meet everyone.

Hi,
I can't wait to start Latin (again) - love it! I will be in Yosemite but able to log in. I sure hope it's cooler where others are than here in Southern CA!

stLouisiana...Yes, you need the 4th edition. I hope you can return it and get the correct edition. The 5th edition introduces new characters, which messes with the translation and the pagination is off. There is a temporary workaround available until you get the right edition. The 4th ed. is online, but I don't know for how long it'll be open to the public. Hopefully this will help you out until you get the correct edition.

Abigail...hope Yosemite is fire free when you're there. It's certainly a beautiful place.

Jane,
Read this before and yes I have the correct book.
Thank

Good news, MarcusTitus and Bev!
-
Good morning Jane and Titus,
Jane you mentioned good news in your message.
The good news for me is being able to meet with like minded people who are enthusiastic about learning Latin. Is there other good news that I should know?

The Orientation is open and waiting for you to join your classmates, of course.
Use your bookmark:
https://seniorlearn.org/forum/index.php#c70
and read the Assignments, see what needs doing today and then click back out of that and click on the item below: Latin 101_Trajan
and click that open. There you'll see a number of items.
The locks only mean it's READ ONLY....you only post in the Orientation.

My name is Rachel and I live in New York City. Originally I am from Cape Cod and like to write, knit, sail, dance, and I have an Etsy shop.
I will be using a laptop and have never taken an online course.

I am using a MacBook Pro and have a terrible feeling that your website might not be Mac compatible and that it why I am not seeing what everyone else is seeing and why the links are not working for me. I will be very sad if this is the case. Maybe some other Mac students in the class can give me some pointers so that I will be able to participate. Thank you so much!

Hi Everyone -
I'm writing for both me (Karen) and my husband Mark. We live in Maine and are originally from Georgia (me) and Ohio (Mark). We enjoy hiking, gardening, sports, reading and spending time with our pups, friends and family.
In answer to Rachel below - we have a Mac Book Pro and I couldn't access Jane's bookmark https://seniorlearn.org/forum/index.php#c70 - Safari is blocking it because of a invalid website certificate - I don't know a workaround.

We have a lot of people who use Macs, so let's try something else for you to find your areas.
All 3 of you are in the same class: Latin 101_Caesar
So...another way to find your area is to scroll down the Main Index here which is the page you login on.
https://seniorlearn.org/forum/index.php
Scroll down to
(https://seniorlearn.org/jane/Orientation_2022/Caesar-Menu.jpg)
for the Assignments area and after you click and read that....back click out and go down to the
Latin 101_Caesar...and click it open
(https://seniorlearn.org/jane/Orientation_2022/CaesarFolder.jpg)
I hope this helps.

Hi Jane,
Mark and I are enrolled in Latin 101_Caesar. I did try the other approach and I can't get in that way either (I'm blocked from the entire website). I do see an option where I can change my Certificate Trust Settings. I'll see if this works. In the meantime we have my work computer (it is a PC) that works fine. Thanks much - Karen
-
Karen...yes, I looked on the 'net and it seems it's on your machine.
