Welcome to our newest brain teaser: BLANKO

The rules are simple:

The Challenger posts  either a title or the name of an author, but not both.

Ex:

Title of Book: three words, a prize winning novel:

   ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ T    __ ___   ___ ___ ___ ___

What is it?

The Contestants guess the title or author (if it's a challenge on an author's name)  and post their answer.  If they can, the solve the entire answer. If not, they  can also suggest one of the title words or  a letter to fill in one of the blanks. One guess per "day" (between appearances of the Challenger) for each contestant.

At  the end of the day if the puzzle is not solved, the Challenger will then add only  one of the suggested letters the Contestants have suggested, everywhere it appears.

The winner becomes the new Challenger.

Good Luck !!

Are you ready for the next puzzle?  A classic.  Fiction  You will get it very soon, I'm sure.

Looks like you missed the Summer Shakespeare plays, JoanP. The YouTube offerings might tide you over some. It is beyond me why this penchant for modern dress (or semi-modern) but I did watch the first clip and enjoyed the acting. I enjoyed listening to it but not so much the modern theatrics and costume. This particular version comes in a total of fifteen clips. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6qTK0UsdQw4

Now, back to the quiz. Requesting an H, if you please.

Don't know why, but I'm not really excited enough about the Henry VI s to watch them on YOU TUBE, Fry.  Just want to be able to say I saw them all on stage.  I do want to see Merry Wives though.  I know what you are saying about modern settings -  I find it confusing, among other things.

Several years ago we saw Two Gentlemen from Verona, I think it was, set in a diner in New Jersey.
Husband has been in every state except North Dakota, Hawaii and Alaska.  Can't figure out how to do it in one trip from Virginia!

I'm sorry, no "H" in this one.  Another clue for the day - think February. ;)

HoHO!  I thought you'd get it this morning, Pedln!  I can understand why you think I made an error with those "E"s - it wouldn't be the first time!  No guesses for more letters, Pat?

It seems you need another clue - February, the author's birthmonth...

Funny how you can see it so clearly, when it's your own title!

Yes, Dickens' birthday is in February.  We're thinking of celebrating with a discussion of one of his works durning that month.  The titles most often mentioned  here seem to be either Great Expectations or Bleak House.  Any thoughts?

You're up, Fry!

I'd love to read another Dickens. I read Bleak House years upon years ago and can't say as I remember anything about it. Never got around to Great Expectations.

This next quiz is a book from an author I've mentioned a few times. First of a series.

No book that I know of JoanP, but there apparently is a TV series by that name. I think it is about cutting-edge technology/manufacturing. Nice try though.

Ah, JoanP. You've got it. The Eyre Affair it is.

I just got Thursday Next: The Sequel a few months ago. Then there is only one more to the series, One of our Thursdays is Missing . I am looking forward to reading Forde's Nursery Crime series, but it appears there were only two to those written. I may even pick up Shades of Grey. Fforde is a bit addictive, but I can only take this alternative/surreal universe stuff a little at a time. How he has managed to remain so funny and punny for through so many novels is beyond me.

Funny, it was Jane's suggestion of an "R" that led to the "win."  Did you have that title in mind, Jane?

Here's a new one - a very new novel I'm getting ready to read - fiction.

Yep, made it.  Lizzie was a great Miss Mazeppa, and the actress who played that part in the original Gypsy in 1959 with Ethel Merman, Faith D??? was also in the audience and spoke a few words.  She's in her 80's, lives in DC.

Anyone for coffee?  I'm free tomorrow, probably Wed.

Fiction, about a family.
