Welcome to our newest brain teaser: BLANKO

The rules are simple:

The Challenger poses and indicates either a title or the name of an author, but not both.

The Contestants guess the title or author and post their answer; if they can, the solve the entire title.   They can also suggest another letter to fill in one of the blanks.

At  the end of the day if the puzzle is not solved,
the Challenger then must add only  one of the suggested letters the contestants have suggested, everywhere it appears.

The winner becomes the new challenger.

Ex:

Title of Book: three words, a prize winning novel:

   ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ T    __ ___   ___ ___ ___ ___

What is it?

Good Luck !!

Well, I thought I knew what it is but there is one letter too many.

Let's try for a V.

Oh my...

It was those double SS and the need for a consonant that gave it away.  Some great titles here - my "TBR" list - and "TBRagain" list is growing.  Here's another old goodie - fiction:

A double connection--words in the title, and setting.  I haven't read the Greene; did he have Conrad in mind with his title?

PatH, I saw the movie, never read the book.

This one is a book my Mom loaned to a neighbor before I was very far into it. It never came back. Last year I found a copy in my local used bookstore which has a gold embossed, grained cover and a ribbon bookmark. Couldn't resist. It shouldn't take long for you to guess it.

No D's.

JoanP, I cannot vouch for the book, but the movie is interesting. Published in 1992, the book won the Silver Dagger Award and was shortlisted for the Edgar Award in the same year. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miss_Smilla%27s_Feeling_for_Snow for a synopsis of the book.
