Welcome to our newest brain teaser: BLANKO

The rules are simple:

The Challenger poses and indicates either a title or the name of an author, but not both.

The Contestants guess the title or author and post their answer; if they can, the solve the entire title.   They can also suggest another letter to fill in one of the blanks.

At  the end of the day if the puzzle is not solved,
the Challenger then must add only  one of the suggested letters the contestants have suggested, everywhere it appears.

The winner becomes the new challenger.

Ex:

Title of Book: three words, a prize winning novel:

   ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ T    __ ___   ___ ___ ___ ___

What is it?

Good Luck !!

More Es please.

This takes patience and persistance, Jane!  I promise to rip up my little list anf return to lettered titles in the future, you ban me from the club!  I have to repeat, though,  that this title is on the current best sellers list - in the Washington area.  Next time you're in a bookstore and see it on display - think of me...

Yes, there is the number 2 -

N  O  S  _  A  2

Letters and numbers guessed: S, E, R, N, A, O, Y, 1,2

I just have to guess. [The closest bookstore to me is 70 miles away (round trip) and I don't normally read the Best Seller List.]

After I guessed 4, a light lit up.  I bet that's it, and I bet it's a vampire story.

WINNER!
  WINNER!  WINNER!

WINNER!

NOS4A2 is a spine-tingling novel of supernatural suspense from master of horror Joe Hill, the New York Times bestselling author of Heart-Shaped Box and Horns.

Victoria McQueen has a secret gift for finding things: a misplaced bracelet, a missing photograph, answers to unanswerable questions. On her Raleigh Tuff Burner bike, she makes her way to a rickety covered bridge that, within moments, takes her wherever she needs to go, whether it’s across Massachusetts or across the country.

Charles Talent Manx has a way with children. He likes to take them for rides in his 1938 Rolls-Royce Wraith with the NOS4A2 vanity plate. With his old car, he can slip right out of the everyday world, and onto the hidden roads that transport them to an astonishing – and terrifying – playground of amusements he calls “Christmasland.”

Then, one day, Vic goes looking for trouble—and finds Manx. That was a lifetime ago. Now Vic, the only kid to ever escape Manx’s unmitigated evil, is all grown up and desperate to forget. But Charlie Manx never stopped thinking about Victoria McQueen. He’s on the road again and he’s picked up a new passenger: Vic’s own son.

Exclusive to the print editions of NOS4A2 are more than 15 illustrations by award-winning Locke & Key artist Gabriel Rodríguez.

NOS4A2 is a phonetic version of Nosferatu, that wonderful 1922 silent movie retelling the Dracula story.  It's directed by F. W. Murnau, with Max Schreck as the vampire, and even after all these years it's still good.  (It's better if you can find a version that hasn't been "colorized"--a wash of color over the whole thing which blunts the stark effect of the black and white photography.

Not me, I'm definitely not into horror or vampire stories.

Good lord, you mean someone had the bad taste to colorize that too? I get slightly traumatized every time I see something I was used to in B/W show up in washed out color. Sometimes, trying to improve something actually takes away what was special about it.

The colorization isn't the kind that makes the movie look like it was shot in color.  It's just one pale color spread uniformly over the screen, so it looks like you're looking at it through tinted glass.  There are different colors for different scenes, depending on mood or time of day or something.  I can't imagine why anyone thought it was a good idea.
