Welcome to our newest brain teaser: BLANKO

The rules are simple:

The Challenger poses and indicates either a title or the name of an author, but not both.

The Contestants guess the title or author and post their answer; if they can, the solve the entire title.   They can also suggest another letter to fill in one of the blanks.

At  the end of the day if the puzzle is not solved,
the Challenger then must add only  one of the suggested letters the contestants have suggested, everywhere it appears.

The winner becomes the new challenger.

Ex:

Title of Book: three words, a prize winning novel:

   ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ T    __ ___   ___ ___ ___ ___

What is it?

Good Luck !!

WINNER WINNER WINNER

The Return of Sherlock Holmes is a book of 13 short stories, starting with The Adventure of the Empty House, in which we learn that Holmes did not die in his struggle with Professor Moriarty at the Reichenbach Falls.

Good job.

I was helped because I just read a mystery (The Bughouse Affair by Marcia Muller and Bill Pronzini) that features Sherlock Holmes hanging out in San Francisco after he escaped from Moriarty and before he returned. The bored and incredulous reaction of the tough US detectives to Holmes seemingly endless pontificating is hilarious.

Hmmm. Now I have to think.

That was a whooper-doozey.  At first all I could think of was MIAMI,  and then with no A's, WILLI.  Then Willi ????stocking. It was't until I told myself that it had to be a children's book did anything click.

Good job, JoanK.

Back in a bit with a new puzzle.
