Welcome to our newest brain teaser: BLANKO

The rules are simple:

The Challenger poses and indicates either a title or the name of an author, but not both.

The Contestants guess the title or author and post their answer; if they can, the solve the entire title.   They can also suggest another letter to fill in one of the blanks.

At  the end of the day if the puzzle is not solved,
the Challenger then must add only  one of the suggested letters the contestants have suggested, everywhere it appears.

The winner becomes the new challenger.

Ex:

Title of Book: three words, a prize winning novel:

   ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ T    __ ___   ___ ___ ___ ___

What is it?

Good Luck !!

Marjifay....

Two ways to do that.  Click on the REPLY button (not the quick reply, if you have that option open here) and click on Change Color and pick your color.  Then type BETWEEN the tags.

OR

do the coding manually.

put the following code without spaces

[ color=blue] And this, when posted, will be blue.  It will not be blue in the box as you type...only after you post.  [ /color] will end the color.

[ color=red] Use whichever works better for you.   [ /color]

Marj - try this - highlight the letters you want to colorize, then go to the line above the text box - the line that begins with B, where you bold.  Drop down menu in the CHANGE COLOR box and click the color you want.  That should do it.   Try to save it and see what happens...

I'm sorry - this title is NON-FICTION and E is a good guess, Jane...

-  -  -  -  E        -  - :    -  -  E        -  -  -  -  E  -       -  O  -  -

Marj, if you want to check to see if it looks like you wanted , before posting click on the Preview button next to the Post button.  You'll see a grey box showing how the post will look, and you can either click Post, or make changes first, then post.

Give it a try here and we can help you sort it out if it doesn't work for you. The usual problem is the person forgets to put the words wanted in color between the color tags.

If you want to just make a word or two in a color, type your words in the reply box, highlight what you want colored and click the Change Color menu thingy and choose your color.

Yes, I'm playing!! ::)

Haven't read Route 66: The Mother Road, but it sounds interesting.  We've had fun following the old road here in California and in Arizona.  When I moved from Iowa to California in the 1950s, we drove here part of the way on Route 66.

Here's a new puzzle:

FICTION    MADE INTO A COUPLE OF MOVIE  VERSIONS    I think more people have seen the movie than read the book

YOU WON FRYBABE!!

The best movie of The Maltese Falcon was the 1931 version.  It starred the
handsome Ricardo Cortez who played Sam Spade. His leering at women was hilarious.  Bebe Daniels played the femme fatale, Ruth Wonderly, and she was also great.  I liked her much better in the part than Mary Astor who played in the 1941 version with Humphrey Bogart.

And the winner is.........PatH

Howard Norman is married to poet, Jean Shore. He is best known for his 1994 book, The Bird Artist which, along with The Northern Lights, was a National Book Award finalist. I believe several of his books set in Canada have been criticized for using American terminology rather than Canadian terminology, and I saw one write up that complained about poorly translated Cree tales. He received a Master of Arts degree from the Folklore Institute of Indiana University linguistics and folklore. This is his newest book. http://www.amazon.com/Hate-Leave-This-Beautiful-Place/dp/0547385420/ref=la_B000AQ3XSA_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1394898190&sr=1-1

Another, called Next Life Might be Kinder is due out in mid-May. http://www.amazon.com/Next-Life-Might-Be-Kinder/dp/054771212X/ref=la_B000AQ3XSA_1_3?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1394898190&sr=1-3
