Any T's?

Oops, I fell back asleep, and just woke up.   Re:  In the Kingdom of Ice; The Grand and Terrible Polar Voyage of the USS Jeannette, it was recommended in the newsletter from the Washington, D.C. bookstore Politics & Prose.  I thought it sounded really interesting.

The book description says, "New York Times bestselling author Hampton Sides returns with a white-knuckle tale of polar exploration and survival in the Gilded Age.  In the late nineteenth century, people were obsessed by one of the last unmapped areas of the globe: the North Pole. No one knew what existed beyond the fortress of ice rimming the northern oceans, although theories abounded. The foremost cartographer in the world, a German named August Petermann, believed that warm currents sustained a verdant island at the top of the world. National glory would fall to whoever could plant his flag upon its shores.  The ship sailed into uncharted seas, but soon was trapped in pack ice. Two years into the harrowing voyage, the hull was breached. Amid the rush of water and the shrieks of breaking wooden boards, the crew abandoned the ship. Less than an hour later, the Jeannette sank to the bottom, and the men found themselves marooned a thousand miles north of Siberia with only the barest supplies. Thus began their long march across the endless ice—a frozen hell in the most lonesome corner of the world."

Hampton Sides will talk about this book tonight (Sunday) on CSpan's BookTV at 10 pm Eastern Time.

I remember my Mom telling me that one of her relatives was a crewman on one of the polar expeditions. Too bad I don't remember whose; there were a awful lot of them in the 1800's and 1900's. My impression was that it was Arctic(Parry or Peary, maybe?). Mom was especially interested in Scott's expedition when the book about the Endeavor came out.

Are there any N? in there PatH?

This is another must read author for me. Non-fiction. Science. It has been out a couple of years, but I only just came across it.

This is frustrating.  It's The Curious Science of Life in the Void, but I can't figure out the first part, except the first word ends in G.  Might as well tie that up.

G?
