The Word for World is Forest.

I've read two of Ursula Le Guin's Hainish Cycle books, The Dispossessed and The Left Hand of God.

I just checked. It doesn't appear that Le Guin has published any novels since 2008. She is now 85.

     WINNER WINNER WINNER

You're probably the only player who's heard of it, Frybabe, but it's fair, because it's guessable anyway.  It's a short novel, about a gentle forested world with peaceful inhabitants, which is now being exploited by rough humans who are trying to clear-cut the whole world.

For some reason, I could never get into The Dispossessed, though it's highly thought of.  Of the Hainish world, I've read Rocannon's World, The Left Hand of Darkness, The Word for World is Forest, and Four Ways to Forgiveness, which is four interlinked long short stories.  Plus, the Earthsea trilogy and Tehanu, The Lathe of Heaven, and a bunch of short stories.

The Lathe of Heaven was my first Le Guin, and I loved it. Saw a TV production of it years ago, was intrigued, then read the book. The Dispossessed is set partly in a somewhat depressing world.

I just checked my old Book of the Month Club book with three books in one. I see I never finished The Wind's Twelve Quarters which is a book of short stories. I read four of them, but the only one I remember is the first, "Semley's Necklace". I think that was the seed story that ultimately ended up as Rocannon's World.

Will, be back later. This is Lucy's yearly visit to the vet. Oh, Joy!

Frybabe, who is Lucy?

PatH, is The Word for World is Forest a good story?
I never read this.

Lucy is a "muted" calico cat. Oscar is my other one.

Okay, a puzzler for you. This is the original title of the sequel to one of the author's most well known books. It was re-edited from the author's original manuscript and republished under a different name a decade ago.

How old are Lucy and Oscar? I like cats, too. Did you read Dewey?

Ursula Le guin did write a new story. You can find more goodreads.
