Welcome to our newest brain teaser: BLANKO

The rules are simple:

The Challenger posts  either a title or the name of an author, but not both.

Ex:

Title of Book: three words, a prize winning novel:

   ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ T    __ ___   ___ ___ ___ ___

What is it?

The Contestants guess the title or author (if it's a challenge on an author's name)  and post their answer.  If they can, the solve the entire answer. If not, they  can also suggest one of the title words or  a letter to fill in one of the blanks. One guess per "day" (between appearances of the Challenger) for each contestant.

At  the end of the day if the puzzle is not solved, the Challenger will then add only  one of the suggested letters the Contestants have suggested, everywhere it appears.

The winner becomes the new Challenger.

Good Luck !!

I really loved your clues (particularly the songs), pedln, but I had no idea what to make of them.  The words fit for The Devil in the White City and that is nonfiction and recently published.  I had no idea that it is going to be a movie.  That should be interesting.

Let's see.  Back to fiction.

Winner!  Winner!  Winner!

(Just thought I'd say that for the fun of it.)

Excellent job, JoanP!  I can't review this book yet, because I haven't finished it.  I am about half way through.  There are a number of things that I like about it though.  Because it is long, there is time to meet the people in the novel.  There is time to meet the city.  There is time to meet the time period.  I gave a gift to a friend.  Every month an independent bookstore in the area sends her a new book.  The Invisible Bridge is the first of these books.

winner! winner! winner!, she said sheepishly..

hahaha, Pedln, inspite of my double errors, you've managed to guess the title of the book I'm now reading.

I forgot the word THE has a T?  I forgot the word "The"  altogether.    And then I counted other Kingsolver books in the novel count.

Her books, in order of publication, are: The Bean Trees (1988), Homeland (1989), Holding the Line: Women in the Great Arizona Mine Strike (1989), Animal Dreams (1990), Another America (1992), Pigs in Heaven (1993), High Tide in Tucson (1995), The Poisonwood Bible (1998), Prodigal Summer (2000), Small Wonder (2002), Last Stand: America’s Virgin Lands, with photographer Annie Griffiths Belt (2002), Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: A Year of Food Life (2007), and The Lacuna (2009).

So you WON!  Aren't you glad?  I am - love your clues! da da da daaa

Excellent work, pedln!!!  How amazing you are to guess the book despite JoanP's attempts to disguise it.

I was told to read The Lacuna.  Do you like it, JoanP?

Gosh JoanP, when you said no T's  -- what could it be.  A name -- Rob Edmund, mab something, or else Future.  But how many three letter words for the beginning of a title -- All, our, her, his.  I was sure it had to be a name.

Give me a bit of time, please, to find an easy stumper.

Now THAT was AMAZING!  All you had was the letter T, deems2!  How on earth did you do that?  I couldn't fool Pedln - even giving her all the wrong information, she still guessed it.
You didn't even let Pedln come up with some of  her creative clues...except the first letter "T"...

The Lacuna...is a GREAT book - so far.  It is LONG...and it is slow-going at first.  But the writing!  The writing is so compelling, I never dreamed of putting it down.  It is also NOT the story I was expecting...but won't say more.
Definitely, read it!  Yes, Gum, we talked about reading/discussing it here.  It's the length that I question.  Let's see how it goes before suggesting it as a group read..
