Welcome to our newest brain teaser: BLANKO

The rules are simple:

The Challenger posts  either a title or the name of an author, but not both.

Ex:

Title of Book: three words, a prize winning novel:

   ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ T    __ ___   ___ ___ ___ ___

What is it?

The Contestants guess the title or author (if it's a challenge on an author's name)  and post their answer.  If they can, the solve the entire answer. If not, they  can also suggest one of the title words or  a letter to fill in one of the blanks. One guess per "day" (between appearances of the Challenger) for each contestant.

At  the end of the day if the puzzle is not solved, the Challenger will then add only  one of the suggested letters the Contestants have suggested, everywhere it appears.

The winner becomes the new Challenger.

Good Luck !!

Well now, I wonder where I got the whole wheat crust recipe then. It really is good with spiniach pie or apple pie (I've even added a little shredded cheddar to the pie crust on occasion). I haven't done any baking in a long time. My stove is on the fritz, so I've been microwaving, slow-cooking or electric woking everything. I really must go look at stoves, but I've been holding off, hoping I can do a kitchen remodel with a counter top two burner range and a convection or other smaller oven. The oven I have is huge.

Now, to the game. Yes, there are I's.

Well, the third worf is either of or on. I'll bet it's "of", but to be preverse, I'll ask for an "N"

Well, I can't get by The Prince of Tides...even if the clues don't fit!

How about a "D"?

What's a "worf"?

A worf is a teenage wolf.  They are babes, then pups, then worfs, then wolves.  I think that it may be a slang term.  They may actually still be "pups".  But I wouldn't call a worf "pup" to his face.  Too many teeth.

We had a particularly glorious full moon last week, and as I was standing in my side yard admiring it, I might have heard the distant howls of the frolicking young worfs.  Good thing the moon isn't tonight; it's so hot even getting the paper from the front yard is an ordeal.

Yeaaaaaa! Gumtree got it. The Bridge of Sighs book I have is by Olen Steinhauer and is a police detective novel. I have not checked out what Russo's book is about yet. Here is Thomas Hood's poem of the same name: http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-bridge-of-sighs/ I've added the website to my bookmarks. Oh, and the location is a bridge in Venice. http://gerardmcgarry.com/photo/bridge-sighs

Afraid I only know the Russo book - I was forced to learn pages of Thomas Hood poetry at school. I see he is just as depressing as ever...

My memory of Thomas Hood is mostly "Song of a Shirt".  Don't remember "The Bridge of Sighs"  It's annoying in its patronizing attitude toward a "fallen woman", but is also pathetic and touching.

I think it’s time to retire Title Mania.  No one has posted there for 5 months, and we had all kind of run out of titles.  Is there any reason to archive it rather than just trash it?  We had some good conversations there, which I wouldn’t mind rereading, but realistically, no one is going to look for them.  Let me know what you want.

WINNER WINNER WINNER

Well done PatH!  I knew once those S's went in someone would get it right away...

It was the previous quiz Bridge of Sighs that brought San Luis Rey to my mind. I think I might read it once again - it's been so long and I'm sure it will mean so much more to this old lady than it did when I was in my twenties ...
