     WINNER WINNER WINNER

You got it, Frybabe.  The 16th century manual on the Zen way to slice your enemy in half with a big sword.  That was sort of fair; it was quite popular in this country some decades ago.

That's scary!

FRY: does your listing of T as guessed mean there are no more T's?

If so, E

Spectacular, Marjifay

I read The Red Badge of Courage way back in ninth or tenth grade. It is an unforgettable book.

I read it a couple of years ago after watching John Huston's 1951 movie.  I liked the movie better.

I have a note I saved from an Amazon reader of the book, who wrote:  "This in NOT an "adventure" story, it's a blood-and-guts account of a dirty day in a dirty war.  It's about the way the mind can obsess on tiny details in the middle of chaos - how sights, smells and sounds become almost hallucinogenic as the mind approaches breaking point. As such, it is astonishing.  But if you want a REAL adventure story (not suitable for the under-13s!) read a biography of Crane himself. Hemingway meets James Dean is the only way to describe it."  (I have not read Crane's biography, but his life does sound interesting.)

O? (BOO)

I read Red Badge" in a graduate lit class (the only one I ever took). The teacher was a Freudian and spent his time pointing out all the phallic symbols in everything we read.

Freud was rather irritating. The only thing I liked was his description of defense mechanisms. Jung was much more interesting.
