Welcome to our newest brain teaser: BLANKO
The rules are simple:
The Challenger posts either a title or the name of an author, but not both.
Ex:
Title of Book: three words, a prize winning novel:
___ ___ ___ ___ ___ T __ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___
What is it?
The Contestants guess the title or author (if it's a challenge on an author's name) and post their answer. If they can, the solve the entire answer. If not, they can also suggest one of the title words or a letter to fill in one of the blanks. One guess per "day" (between appearances of the Challenger) for each contestant.
At the end of the day if the puzzle is not solved, the Challenger will then add only one of the suggested letters the Contestants have suggested, everywhere it appears.
The winner becomes the new Challenger.
Good Luck !!

Time for an author. Three letters right off the bat. How’s that for being generous with clues?

Hey folks, I don't think I can answer emails about this. I understand, especially since it's an author, why one hesitates to venture a guess.
But, since I'm not answering emails, I will give another clue.
This author is dead.

His

Yes Pat, the question mark is part of the title. That should make it pretty easy to figure out. I can't tell if this book is considered non-fiction or one of those historical fiction. Unfortunately I don't have the book any more and I can't find specific reference to it being either one. I always thought of it as non-fiction, but after a Google search I saw a few comments from readers here and there that indicate some think of it as an historical novel. I do not remember any fictionalized characters or dialogue in the book.

Ok here goes try number 5, am not sure what's happening today.
I saw this book at B&N yesterday but did not buy it. You could read it in 15 minutes (that's a clue):
___ ___ ___ ___ ____ ___ ___ ___ ___
S ___ ___ ___
Yes this is 4 words and the last one begins with S.
So far we have E and N suggested and the third word is not THE.
Interesting, huh?
I'll choose N, from the two letters suggested, and there are no N's in the title.
