BLANKO
Welcome to our newest brain teaser
The rules are simple:
The Challenger posts either a title or the name of an author, not both. One letter is supplied. More information may be given, but isn't required.
Example:
Title of Book: three words, a prize winning novel:
___ ___ ___ ___ ___ T __ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___
What is it?
The Contestants guess--the title (or author) if they can, or a letter. One guess between appearances of the Challenger for each contestant.
At the end of the day, or more often if the Challenger wants, the Challenger will add one or more of the letters the Contestants have suggested, everywhere it appears. (Note that the
original
supplied letter might also appear elsewhere.)
The winner becomes the new Challenger.
Good Luck !!

A debut novel – that’s a term we seem to be seeing more and more of these days.

Do you have to wear a white dress and long gloves when your debut novel debuts?

Hmmm...and a long-stemmed red rose, too....maybe???
U's?
[I don't know if they do "cotillions" and debutante balls anymore...except I know they do in S. Texas. The girls pictures are always in the paper while we're there...from all the little surrounding towns. As I said, I didn't know "they" still did "this." They don't...or at least it's not publicized if they do.... it here in the farmlands of Iowa.

My daughter sent me a debut novel for my birthday --
The Light Between Oceans
. Title sounded a little familiar, but not the author M.L. Stedman. Probably because it's her debut. Do they really still have debuts? Didn't "they" used to "come out?" But that's not what it used to be.
Some of you are going to kick yourselves.

Aaaagh! You're quite right, pedln, I'm kicking myself.
The Lizard Cage
, Karen Connelly
I was even staring at it, seeing "lizard", and not getting it.
For those of you not in the current book discussion, it forms the basis of one of the chapters in
The End of Your Life Book Club
.
It's about a political prisoner in Burma, and is both harrowing and moving.

Oh yes! Kicking myself on that one! I'd put a hold on it at the library after reading about it in End of Life Book Club...put off picking it up and by the time I got to the hold shelf, it was removed. Five days go by so quickly!

We get 10 days. Good thing, too. But there's a fine if you don't either pick up or cancel.
