Welcome to our newest brain teaser: BLANKO

The rules are simple:

The Challenger poses and indicates either a title or the name of an author, but not both.

The Contestants guess the title or author and post their answer; if they can, the solve the entire title. They can also suggest another letter to fill in one of the blanks.

At the end of the day if the puzzle is not solved,
the Challenger then must add only one of the suggested letters the contestants have suggested, everywhere it appears.

The winner becomes the new challenger.

Ex:

Title of Book: three words, a prize winning novel:

I'm sorry about how the blanks look. I'm traveling, using an iPad, and that's how they come out. Jane is right about the letter count: 3, 6, 2, 4, and there are always 3 dashes per blank.

Good for you, JoanP. Pedln, it sounds familiar because it's Sherlock Holmes--one of the book-length stories, combining a murder mystery with a lurid back story about corruption in an American mining town.

I didn't have it, just the "fear". Shirlock holmes' books are just about the only mysteries I don't read. Don't know why, never liked them.

Glad you got it. I'm not sure how much I can be online. We spent part of last evening in the basement when the tornado sirens went off. Rain was heavy--up to 5" and so part of town is flooded today. We had roof damage, but got a guy out to, hopefully, do a repair that will hold since we're under another tornado watch and more rain to come today and tomorrow.
