Welcome to our newest brain teaser: BLANKO

The rules are simple:

The Challenger poses and indicates either a title or the name of an author, but not both.

The Contestants guess the title or author and post their answer; if they can, the solve the entire title.   They can also suggest another letter to fill in one of the blanks.

At  the end of the day if the puzzle is not solved,
the Challenger then must add only  one of the suggested letters the contestants have suggested, everywhere it appears.

The winner becomes the new challenger.

Ex:

Title of Book: three words, a prize winning novel:

   ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ T    __ ___   ___ ___ ___ ___

What is it?

Good Luck !!

Congratulations, Marj.  That was hard.  Very clever, Frybabe, uncommon letters, non-obvious spelling.

Obviously, on my next turn I should pick Paolo Bacigalupi, but Frybabe is the only one likely to have heard of him.

I haven't heard of him, Pat.  I have an author with a difficult name I'll use sometime.  But for now, here's a novel that should be fairly easy:

Historical Fiction.  Second in what is to be a trilogy.  Each book has won two awards.

Bacigalupi a science fiction writer, well thought of, but not a flavor of s-f I care for.  I haven't read him, doubt anyone else here has either.

Paolo Bacigalupi: Not my cup of tea either, PatH, although The Windup Girl sounds mildly interesting. No, I never heard of him. Hmmm! Should have, between 2005-2013 he has won 20 awards.

Paulo Coehlo: Yes, I have read The Alchemist. A lot of people like it, I didn't care for it too much. It is one of those books I'd list as a mystical/philosophical quest type. Wikipedia calls it allegorical. I can't quite equate it to allegory like Undine. There was a lesson to be learned in the book though. It kind of reminds me of The Celestine Prophesy by James Redfield, also a quest type novel intended to teach a lesson, that at one time was recommended reading for executives. I did't care for that either; in fact, I never finished it.

              WINNER!!   WINNER!!   WINNER!!         Pat H!!!

I was beginning to think I was the only one who had read it.  I read both Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies, and liked them both, but Bring Up the Bodies was easier to read.  Am looking forward to reading the third in the series.

Good for you, Frybabe.  Kindle is a good place for it--it's pretty heavy.  I own it--3 big volumes.  When I got married, Bob told me that he had figured a man would spend a lot of time waiting for his wife, so he meant to use it working through Gibbon.  Of course I bought it for him the next present occasion.  Whether or not he had to wait for me much, he never got through Volume I.  I didn't get very far either--should try it now; it's good stuff.
