One of my favorite mysteries. Very good writing. The ending brought tears to my eyes.

Eight Million Ways to Die
Lawrence Block has written a huge number of crime and mystery books and won quite a few Edgar and Shamus Awards, including this one (Shamus, 1983). I just shelved one of his Keller novels,
Hit Me
, at the library on Friday.

Whoops... I missed your post, Frybabe. Yes you got it!
EIGHT MILLION WAYS TO DIE by Lawrence Block
His A Drop of the Hard Stuff was good too. I keep thinking I'll read more of his Matt Scudder mysteries. Good writer.

Fiction. New this year. This is one I thought I'd like to read, but after a few paragraphs changed my mind. I might try in another time.

RED SPARROW
(iT'S ON MY TBR LIST.) Were the first few paragraphs boring? I usually give a book longer than that before tossing.

WINNER!
I may pick it up in the future to try again. Some of the customer reviewers pointed out that it starts out pretty slow. I only skimmed the first few paragraphs while at the library last week.
Interesting NYTimes Review:

I just discovered that this book won the Edgar Alan Poe Award this year for best novel. His literary agent, Christopher Little, has also noted on his website that 20th Century Fox has won the movie rights at a "multiple studio auction".
