Welcome to our newest brain teaser: BLANKO

The rules are simple:

The Challenger posts  either a title or the name of an author, but not both.

Ex:

Title of Book: three words, a prize winning novel:

   ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ T    __ ___   ___ ___ ___ ___

What is it?

The Contestants guess the title or author (if it's a challenge on an author's name)  and post their answer.  If they can, the solve the entire answer. If not, they  can also suggest one of the title words or  a letter to fill in one of the blanks. One guess per "day" (between appearances of the Challenger) for each contestant.

At  the end of the day if the puzzle is not solved, the Challenger will then add only  one of the suggested letters the Contestants have suggested, everywhere it appears.

The winner becomes the new Challenger.

Good Luck !!

Well of course, it's WOLF HALL!  I'm at the beach...will be home soon.  If I don't get in to post a teaser before Saturday, please forgive me.

Have you read it?

I've neglected my duties horribly.  A combination of being out of town, coming back sick as a dog, and having my computer die completely just as the great snowstorm got started kept me from updating the list of winners.  It's now current, on this page only.  Now for Author, Author.

What a winner! I did read Wolf Hall last year, and would give it a mixed review.

PatH ~  Hope you and new computer are now fine!  I also reluctantly got a new computer a few months ago, and needed all sorts of help to get it connected ... talking to India is not fun!  It seems I read that JoanK also needed to get one ...  are these computers talking to each other?    ???

Yes, PAT and my computers died at the same time. I think they were plotting against us in corners. Or do twins' computers have a strange sort of empathy (Pat and I don't have it -- it must have passed through us to our computers).

We're baaaack.  Thanks for the reprieve.  It was a nice break, but am paying for it now~  Froze at the airport waiting for the taxi - wearing sandals, no socks, summer weight slacks and blouse...light coat.

So, you're waiting to be stumped, I gather.  This is a delightful book so far - not really new, but topical in ways that you will soon see.    The fictional characters interact with real people who are included as characters....

Does giving us an "e" mean that that is the only "e"?

Could I have a "T"?

No, giving you one "E" to start, doesn't necessarily  mean that there aren't any other Es.... ;)

You asked for a "T"?

Geee, I had hoped not to give away all the "A"'s so soon, but since yours was the only guess   yesterday, I suppose I'll have to give them to you, Pedln.  And you DID say "please" after all....  Do you see it now?

This book  is by a well-known author - for works other than this one...

So funny, JoanP.  I just posted in Movies and Books and then came here -- and then after contemplating BEast LEast and Yeast --  oh, duh.

Any Human Heart by William Boyd

Are you reading the book?  I have seen the TV part 1 performance.

Congratulations, You got it, JoanP.  By Judith Guest, published back in the '70s.  A family tragedy.  Two brothers are out boating, a storm comes up and one brother drowns. The younger brother is so consumed by guilt at being alive that he commits suicide, and the book really opens when he is released from the hospital where he had gone for treatment.  I don't know if there is a film or not, but it has been on TV.  Guest has written other books, but none have received the acclaim of Ordinary People.

OK, here's one - brand NEW.  I'm really excited about it after reading the recent reviews - Fiction.  Maybe you've heard of it.  If not, you will ----

Ordinary People - haven't read the book but the film was brilliant - Donald Sutherland and Mary Tyler Moore. There were scenes in that movie that I'll never forget. - not horrific just powerful.

The film of "Ordinary People" WAS brilliant, better than the book IMO. Robert Redford directed it, and ALL  the films he directed were brilliant! I wish he'd done more!
