I saw him interviewed and what he explained about the rigging of the stock market by the frequent traders was mind boggling...nanoseconds and how their orders beat others...but they knew what others would be buying, etc.

Is Flash Boys one of the reasons for the news casts during last day or two claiming the stock exchange is rigged?

That is what the book explains.  The author maintains a few "frequent users" have made billions by getting an order in nanoseconds before others buy that same stock...and then selling when the price is up.  And, all perfectly legal, apparently.

A brillant young man at a Canadian investment bank apparently finally figured out how they were doing this...and has, with others and some giant investment brokers, started a new stock exchange. 

Fascinating.  I think I saw it on 60 Minutes last week.
