BLANKO

Welcome to our newest brain teaser

The rules are simple:

The Challenger posts  either a title or the name of an author, not both.  One letter is supplied.  More information may be given, but isn't required.

Example:

Title of Book: three words, a prize winning novel:

   ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ T    __ ___   ___ ___ ___ ___

What is it?

The Contestants guess--the title (or author) if they can, or a letter.  One guess between appearances of the Challenger for each contestant.

At  the end of the day, or more often if the Challenger wants, the Challenger will add one or more of the letters the Contestants have suggested, everywhere it appears.  (Note that the original supplied letter might also appear elsewhere.)

The winner becomes the new Challenger.

Good Luck !!

Any more E's?

Sorry, no P, not even a sniffed W... :D

You got it, Pedln!    Just read about it - one of the reference books in Sid's workshop at the lake - in Crossing.  Have you read Golden Bough?  Has anyone?

Wow!  Good job, pedln.

We had The Golden Bough in our house when I was growing up, and I read some of it, but at an age when the language was a bit of a challenge.  I liked it well enough, should look at it again.

I've never read it, but I can visualize where it was on the shelves in the high school library.

Once I started picturing the "gh" combo in the puzzle it just jumped out.  Mythology?  Religion?

There'll be something here tomorrow.

An oldie, Pulitzer Prize,  non-fiction.  I read it years ago.  The one thing I remember is a little boy playing on the floor who says, "Mama, it's getting dark in here."

Good for you JOanK.  That was a hard one, too.   It's been ages since I read it, but I"ll never forget the little boy being bitten by the snake, and swelling up to where he couldn't see anything.

I admit to never finishing it. She is a little too mmystical even for mystical me.

Now I have to come up with something. Today or tomorrow.

I'll agree with you there, JoanK.  But she did write a book that I liked very much and have given to others as a gift. The Living, a novel about the settling of Bellingham, Washington.  It's one I wouldn't mind reading again if I didn't have so many others to read for the first time.
